Introduction to Lean Healthcare Seminar and Presentation
This is an introductory program delivered in PowerPoint format along with a discussion and question / answer session. The program is designed to present the basic concepts of lean manufacturing principles, tools, and techniques. Special attention is paid to how lean concepts are currently being used in the general healthcare sector. Other topics include a review of how to implement and sustain a successful quality project along with tips for effective performance management.
Applying Lean Concepts to a HME Business
This seminar provides a general overview of different lean concepts and focuses on how a typical HME business (small or large) can implement lean concepts such as 5S, error proofing, and value stream mapping. Topics presented included error proofing, root cause analysis, value stream mapping, fishbone diagrams, SIPOC (suppliers, inputs, process, output, and customers planning tool.)
Value Stream Mapping Introduction and Training Seminar
Before you can improve a process, you have to understand it. Learn how to identify the hidden costs of inefficient processes in this eye-opening seminar. This seminar focuses exclusively on the tips, tools, and techniques that are required to map out the typical HME & office value streams including intake, billing, distribution, purchasing, and more. This seminar can help employees and managers alike learn to see all of the invisible steps within a process. This seminar will provide participants with the ability to map out current processes and identify the waste of waiting, rework, hand-offs, delays, and bottlenecks. Data collection will also be emphasized including wait time, process time, first-time-quality, and lead time. This seminar emphasizes employee participation and a key objective is to help participants understand current processes. Participants will also be trained how to begin designing the ideal lean processes.
5S - Creating the Visual Workplace
This seminar focuses on teaching participants how to create the visual workplace which includes organization, signage, diagrams, and charts in order to promote a clean, organized, and standardized work setting. Special emphasis is placed on the warehouse and equipment processing areas. This seminar will require employee participation via practical application and exercises. Participants will be shown how businesses that have implemented 5S have increased productivity, safety, and quality.
Process Evaluation and Assessment
The Lean Homecare Group can assess your current processes and provide you with a detailed evaluation and recommendations for improvement based on the findings. The assessment process includes a combination of observation, interviews with staff and management, and focus group sessions. The assessment process also may involve reviewing past performance and data from operations. The evaluation can also include training staff on how to use value stream mapping techniques and/or other lean tools as appropriate.
Project Management and Quality Improvement Tips
Learn how to avoid some of the more common pitfalls of project failure including improper problem definition, scope creep, weak leadership, and failure to use data to adequately assess project performance.
